Thursday 27th February saw Home Instead present a Dementia Awareness Workshop at the Ann Owens Centre in East Finchely. Marilyn Everitt -Drew, our training officer, presented to an audience of 50 people. The audience came from all over the borough and included family members who are caring for people living with dementia, health professionals, volunteers, and members of the fire brigade.
The workshop included information about dementia and its causes, thoughts on managing behaviours, and ideas on how to engage and stimulate people living with dementia.
We are planning to present a number of these workshops around the borough over this year with the intent of raising awareness about dementia and to provide an opportunity to share experiences. We would like to thank all of the people who participated and Age UK Barnet and their staff at the Ann Owens Centre for providing the venue and their support.
