A caring Valentines’ Day moment for Howard and friends

Howard (at an amazing 97 years!) often pops in to the Orchard Café Arts and Crafts in Ashton on Mersey, to see Geraldine who is the proprietor. Knowing that Howard would be dropping by she had a Valentine's card ready for him. But what a lovely surprise Geraldine had when Howard presented his poem he had written for them!

Alan Savage from Home Instead had nipped in this morning to say hello and met Howard with his friends Mary & Christina (pictured). Realising the ladies hadn't been given anything for Valentines’ Day, Alan popped out and returned with flowers for them; not forgetting Geraldine!

Active Howard happens to be on the front cover of the Home Instead WOW guide and still goes to the Salvation Army lunch on Thursdays & St Mary's on Sunday and has a new scooter to get him around the village. Embracing new technology Howard keeps in touch with his grandsons in Canada & Japan using FaceTime.

Alan asked Howard for his secret to happiness in old age and 3 things came to mind - friendship, keeping moving and a wee dram! His secret to a happy marriage was 2 words; “yes dear!”
