Alan and Lucy are the proud owners of the Altrincham-based office of Home Instead that opened in June 2010.
Alan was born and raised in Sale, attending Sale Boys’ Grammar School and spending many happy hours playing hockey and cricket at Brooklands Sports Club. After attending university and then working in Altrincham for 2 years, Alan left the area to serve as a Royal Navy Officer and then as a risk management specialist within the banking sector based in Halifax. Lucy is from the village of Little Eaton in Derbyshire and with a degree in Art & Design was leading a design team at Hallmark Cards when she met Alan.
The couple started their research into running their own business whilst experiencing a series of life-changing events. Lucy lost her father whilst pregnant and then soon after the birth of their son, Joe Jack, her grandfather passed away leaving her grandmother requiring a range of daily care needs. Having experienced great difficulty trying to manage agency-provided care together with that provided by the family, Alan & Lucy thought there had to be a better solution. This led them to set up their own care business back in the Trafford area.
After much research they decided to set up an office in Trafford for Home Instead, a company that simply stood out above all others with their passion and ability to deliver the highest quality care to people in their own homes.
In operating a care company using Home Instead’s unique methods, Alan and Lucy now invest their time in the local community, identifying and providing services that meet the real needs of the local residents. This involves building excellent links with those people who have an active interest in the health and wellbeing of senior people. This includes local health services, the council’s Adult Social Services, the various health and older peoples charities, church groups, community clubs and societies, etc. This ensures that clients not only receive high quality care from Home Instead but are also informed of, and can access, the many valuable resources and services that are available in the community and to make the most of life.
Alan and Lucy’s team are focused on providing the best quality care, encouraging, assisting and stimulating clients in a variety of daily activities that help improve their quality of life and independence. Alan and Lucy are determined to make a real difference to the standards of care throughout Trafford & Wythenshawe.
