Government campaign to tackle dementia

There are 750,000 people living with dementia in the UK, two-thirds of whom live in their own homes in the community.  Dementia costs the UK £20 billion a year, and these costs will rise as the number of people living with dementia increases.

Dementia provides a key opportunity for improving outcomes and value for money from spending but only if significant focus is given to supporting people with dementia to remain at home for longer and out of long-term and acute care.

The Department of Health has launched a campaign at raising awareness of the early signs and symptoms of dementia.
