“Elderly and disabled people being dressed in soiled clothes: Left in bed for up to 15 hours by agency healthcare assistants; For every 5 hours of paid-for home care, relatives spend 1 hour rectifying mistakes; 1 in 3 rejected a particular care worker who was not up to the job; 4 in 10 had a least 1 appointment missed in the previous 6 months; Vulnerable people left scared, hungry and sometimes at risk”
Just some of the shocking findings which resulted in the Which? team concluding that the care provided to our seniors in their homes is “disgraceful”.
One of the reasons for poor quality care is rushed visits which can be as a result of agencies entering in to block contracts with local authorities which force them to provide “care” in short duration visits of 15 and 30 minutes.
Here at Home Instead Wolverhampton, Wombourne and Kingswinford we know that providing quality and compassionate care through short duration visits simply isn't possible. Our carers, typically, are with our elderly clients for appointments of at least 1 hour and, importantly each client has a carer who has been chosen to best meet the client’s needs, ensuring continuity of care and giving the relationship between carer and client the chance to thrive.
