Caring newcomer wins excellence award
Nathan Allen from Home Instead Wolverhampton has been awarded the ‘Excellence in Care Award- Newcomer 2020’ by the West Midlands Care Association, celebrating his amazing work in the team and in the community.
The awards are in their third year and aim to celebrate and reward excellence in care delivery across the health and social care spectrum within the West Midlands region. The ‘Newcomer’ award looked for an individual who is new to the care industry, but has already displayed initiative and compassion in their caring role alongside demonstrating excellent listening and communication skills.
Nathan is the Care Co-ordinator at Home Instead Wolverhampton, a home-care company which provides personalised home-care for elderly people, focusing on relationship-led companionship, home-help and housekeeping, and personal care among more specialised services including dementia care and palliative care.
Nathan’s role includes matching CAREGivers to clients based around similar interests and personalities, and scheduling so that clients only ever get visited by CAREGivers they know and have built up a relationship with.
Outside of work, Nathan is a huge football fan, having supported West Bromwich Albion since he was a child. Nathan strives to be the best in order to make his partner and children proud.
Nathan commented: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won this award and I hope it’s the first of many! Its so nice to be recognised for the hard work I put into Home Instead every day. Although my role comes with its challenges, the work is highly rewarding, and I look forward to working for Home Instead into the future.”
Pram Toor, Owner of Home Instead Wolverhampton commented: “In his relatively short time with us Nathan has developed a strong empathy for the needs of our caregivers, which played a huge part in us being recognised as a 5 Star employer by Work Buzz in 2019. We are so glad to have Nathan on our team and are very proud of the work he does for us.”
This is not the first award for the Home Instead Wolverhampton team, having won the Carer of the Year award from the West Midlands Care Association in 2019, displaying their established and continuing excellence as providers of local home care services.
