Local community involvement

At Home Instead, we do more than care; we support the communities that our local offices are part of and address any issues affecting people, particularly older adults.

Helping others in the community

Our mission to expand the world’s capacity to care isn’t just reflected in the quality care we provide. It’s important to us to support ageing adults across the UK to enjoy the life they truly deserve. We know loneliness and discontent can be a big problem as people age which is why we run initiatives proven to help combat these issues.

From social events like memory cafes and village hall dances to programmes designed to upskill ageing adults in technology or understand scams to watch out for, we’re here to help. We do all we can to help make the world a more joyful and safer place during later years.

How do we help?

At Home Instead we understand the daily challenges faced by older adults. It’s not enough to simply accept those trials and tribulations. We combat them in ways such as:

  • Protecting older adults from fraud: post, phone calls and the online world are all avenues that can result in fraudulent activities. Our fraud awareness campaign and partnership with Barclays Digital Eagles, help older adults, their loved ones and the wider community to stay scam aware and digitally savvy.
  • Be A Santa: Christmas can be a lonely time for many ageing adults. We have a gift-giving scheme that prevents older adults from going without a present during the festive period.
  • Dementia awareness workshops: 1 in 3 people born in the UK will develop dementia in their lifetime and we know how challenging a diagnosis can be. Our workshops aim to help raise awareness about dementia and what can be done to support those living with it.
