Alec Shelbrooke, took time out from campaigning for re-election as MP for the Elmet & Rothwell constituency to join the Home Instead Dementia Roadshow on Friday 19th May.
Alec who is a “Dementia Friend” is a leading campaigner in raising awareness of Dementia both locally and nationally and is a champion of making his constituency the first Dementia Friendly area in the UK.
We were also supported by the Alzheimer’s Society, Over the Rainbow who run day centres for those with Dementia and the West Yorkshire Fire Service who offered free fire safety assessments.
A number of visitors took away copies of Helping Families to Cope leaflets and the well known Home Instead publication; Confidence to Care.
Home Instead has 25 CAREGivers in the Wetherby & North Leeds area who have been trained in Dementia and we offer free advice and literature upon request.
We hope to make next years event even more successful and Home Instead Director, Simon White said he was “delighted to have such support for key members of the local community for such an important campaign”.
