Margaret Brennan, who runs Home Instead in Wetherby, was delighted to send a cheque for £1,200 to charity Carers UK last week, having enlisted the support of a younger pair of legs to run the London Marathon on her company’s behalf.
Callum Walker, 22 years old, who is a close family friend of Margaret’s and is originally from Harrogate, has been inspired by her work with Home Instead providing care for the elderly and pledged to run the Marathon for a charity of Margaret’s choosing.
Margaret and her daughter travelled to London to cheer Callum on throughout his race which he finished in an impressive 4 hours 40 mins. Margaret said, “He is really fired up and already thinking about the next one – I’m hoping it’s somewhere nice like New York or Berlin so I can support him there!” Carers UK is close to Margaret’s heart, she said, “It is a very small charity that does sterling work supporting unpaid carers in the UK.”
