Callum with his Brighton Marathon medal 2013
For the second year in a row, Home Instead in Wetherby enlisted the support of a younger pair of legs to run the London Marathon. However, as a warm up, he also ran the Brighton Marathon the week before! So that’s 2 consecutive Sundays and 2 marathons with over £2000 raised in total for 2 charities.
Callum Walker aged 23, originally from Harrogate and now living and working in London, completed the first part of his double marathon challenge to raise money for local charity WiSE (Wetherby in Support of the Elderly). WiSE aim to improve quality of life for the over 60’s by providing a variety of community based activities, information, help and support for the residents of Wetherby and the surrounding villages. Callum ran the London Marathon to raise money for Carers UK, as he did in 2012.
Margaret Brennan, owner of Home Instead Wetherby & North Leeds commented; “I am delighted to have Callum running on my behalf, I think I had much more fun cheering from the side-lines! Anyone can run the Brighton Marathon without raising money for charity, but I felt it was a missed opportunity and approached Wetherby in Support of the Elderly to see if they would like to raise money to support their services. It certainly spurred Callum on knowing that he was supporting 2 fantastic charities that support carers and the elderly”.
