Dementia Friends

With Dementia directly affecting nearly 80,000 people in Yorkshire and the Humber, it’s vital that our CAREGiver’s understand what’s it’s like to live with Dementia and how they can help people living with the condition.

All of our employees are trained as Dementia Friends, an initiative started by the Alzheimer’s Society to help change people’s perceptions of Dementia and aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

Since the end of 2018, all employees and CAREGivers have been trained as Dementia Friends and all new CARGivers will now undergo Dementia Friend training as part of their induction and assessment week with Home Instead. This means that right from the start of their CAREGiver journey they understand Dementia and how to help people with this.  Since the start of 2019, all of our 10 new CAREGivers have received this training.
