Bark in the Park

Monty and his 'Goody' Bag

Monty and his 'Goody' Bag

An enjoyable day was had recently by Home Instead Director Margaret Brennan and her ‘owner’ Monty, a lively 2 year old chocolate Labrador. Monty led the way on a 6 mile sponsored dog walk around Golden Acre Park in north Leeds, helping to raise much needed funds for St Gemma’s Hospice in Moortown Leeds. St Gemma’s provides care for local people who have an incurable illness, and having worked in several hospices in her 24 year nursing career, Margaret is fully aware of the important contribution they make to caring for individuals in a sensitive and compassionate manner.  “I couldn’t think of a nicer way of spending a Sunday morning than walking with my dog in such a glorious setting as Golden Acre Park”, she said, adding, “And knowing that I’m helping to raise money for such a worthwhile cause has made it even more enjoyable”. The compassionate caring approach found in hospices is the basis for the approach to care at Home Instead Wetherby and North Leeds. Services are tailored to the needs of individual clients and range from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is totally flexible to meet client needs and is available from as little as 1 hour to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
