A Talent for Knitting

Home Instead Wetherby and North Leeds has some very talented clients; amongst them an artist who recently held a very successful exhibition in London, a gentleman who makes the most exquisite dolls’ houses and a lady who knits beautiful baby clothes. Having a hobby can be very therapeutic and, as the lady that knits is housebound, it is her main interest. Unfortunately she has no outlet for her baby clothes, so Margaret Brennan, owner of the company, decided to do something to help.
Margaret has established strong relationships with Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE), which is a registered charity that aims to improve quality of life for the over 60s by providing community based activities, information, help and support. She knew they held a knitting group every Thursday at Boston Spa Village Hall and wondered whether they had any suggestions. The client has no wish to make money from her hobby but does always need a supply of wool. Nicola Cazaux of WiSE was happy to take a selection of the baby clothes for a charity stall at a Christmas Fair being held at a special needs school in Boston Spa on 6th December, proceeds going to the school. A second batch of clothing will be sold at the Dickensian Day in Wetherby Market Place on 14th December with all money raised going to WiSE. Any unsold items will be donated to the Special Care Baby Unit at Harrogate Hospital. The client is enjoying her hobby and is delighted to be helping others through her knitting skills.
