Meet Our CAREGivers
Pictured are some of our wonderful team of CAREGivers. We feel privileged to have such dedicated and reliable people supporting our clients with care and compassion so that they can maintain their independence at home. Each of our CAREGivers has qualities and strengths which they bring to their work, as well as their experience of caring for others.
One of our lovely CAREGiver's, Elaine, was recently featured in the Wetherby News for her kind and caring nature towards older people. Elaine said, "Being a caregiver is wonderful. I am really happy in my role and I couldn’t tell you the best part about my job; I love the whole package. I enjoy the variety of my job and I find it both interesting and rewarding. All of my clients have a story to tell and when I walk through the door, their faces light up. I love what I do and I wouldn’t change it for anything!”
Our CAREGivers are highly trained from the day they start their journey with us and many go on to develop specialist skills in intensive personal care, Dementia care and end of life care.

Rebecca Abbott ~ General Manager
I joined Home Instead in 2016, having worked in the care industry for 7 years and have an NVQ Level 5 in managing social care services. I try to increase awareness on how dementia can affect people’s life and how to best support them.
I lead and motivate the team to provide the highest quality care to our clients, promote the business and help us contribute towards the local community.
My favourite children’s book was Winnie the Pooh. I used to have a Winnie the Pooh teddy bear that never left my side.
Emma White ~ Recruitment Manager
I worked for 9 years in the West Yorkshire Playhouse where I ran an over 50’s creative programme which made me realise how beneficial creativity can be for the elderly.
I discovered Home Instead whilst looking for care for my Grandma and became a CAREGiver where I was matched with a client because of our shared interest in music. We regularly play together, especially at the Home Instead Companionship Cafes. I am now the Recruitment Manager and enjoy recruiting and retaining like-minded people that wish to make a difference.
My favourite children’s book was ‘Tosca the cat’ and ironically I now have a fat black and white cat just like Tosca!
Heather Welsh ~ Community Services Representative
I was previously a Business Development Manager before joining Home Instead initially as both a Community Service Representative and a CAREGiver because I wanted to make a difference to people’s lives, having nursed my mum who was living with Dementia.
I'm now Community Service Representative full time which involves raising awareness of Home Instead in the local area through events and networking. I try to alleviate elderly isolation and loneliness by running chairobic classes and helping to host the Companionship Cafes for local our community.
My favourite book as a child; I simply have to choose two and I cannot decide between them both: Hans Christian Anderson’s The Princess and The Pea and Little Match Girl.
Gemma Berry ~ Client Support
I have previously worked in fashion before joining Home Instead over 5 years ago. I'm now Client Support which means I keep in contact with our clients, assist with events etc. I'm passionate about my role, offering a friendly voice to help and support our clients. I really enjoy working as part of the team and changing people’s lives through Home Instead.
My favourite character was The Little Mermaid; I always thought I could be a mermaid by once putting salt in the bath and thinking my legs would change into a fish tail!
Nicola Hatton ~ Care Coordinator
I’ve worked in the care industry for 27 years, starting my career as a nurse in the the NHS where I had remained until I decided to leave to pursue a career at Home Instead Senior Care. I strongly believe in the values of the company and have a great respect for the culture of the company. My role as Care Co-ordinator allows me to work closely with our clients and CAREGivers to ensure a high quality of care is achieved and to help our clients remain independent within their own home.
Outside of work I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends and travel.
Lyndsey Burton ~ Field Supervisor/Learning and Development Coordinator
I have worked within the care industry for over 28 years with different organisations. I began my journey with Home Instead over 6 years ago as a CAREGiver as I believe in the values and cultures of the company and wanted to be able to deliver high quality person-centred care.
I'm now the Learning and Development Coordinator where I engage new CAREGivers as they start, provide training and ensure all CAREGivers are part of the Training Academy. I offer continued support for CAREGivers with ongoing training and personal development to help ensure we are providing the highest quality care to clients.
Lucy Partridge ~ Business and HR Support
After graduating, I decided I wanted to pursue my passion of helping and caring for others. I joined the team in 2016 and whilst working as a Caregiver (which I loved!!) I completed my NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care which developed my skills further. I'm now involved in Business and HR Support, where I help clients and their families on a daily basis.
I ensure that all Caregiver's have the appropriate and up-to-date documentation, support the Recruitment Manager and assist the office team with client and Caregiver enquiries.
My favourite children's book was The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton (because I so wanted to live there!)
Simon White ~ Director
Following 35 years of business experience in corporate roles with well- known brands working largely in the retail sector, I wanted to do something that would make a difference.
After experiencing the difficulty of finding high quality care for my immediate family, I very much value the approach to senior care and independence that Home Instead offers so I joined the Home Instead Senior Care Wetherby office in 2016. My role is to lead the Wetherby & North Leeds team, spread the word about the Home Instead experience, and run the business aspects of the operation.
