Westminster Wellness cafe celebrate first birthday

One year anniversary of the Home Instead Wellness café in Westminster

Party time

As well as tea and cakes, the cafe provides a space where visitors can socialise, stay active and hear guest speakers in friendly surroundings.

Fred Mairet, Owner of Home Instead Westminster, explained: “We launched the cafe last year as there was a need for social support in this area. By encouraging elderly people to chat over cups of tea and slices of cake, get involved in various activities and entertainment, it is hoped it will help ward off social isolation."

Fred then went on to address the growing issue of loneliness and social isolation and the effects of these problems - including the impact on an individual’s physical and mental wellbeing - whereas social interaction helps to keep a person’s brain active.

People who join the wellness café are definitely young at heart and love learning new things as well as physical and social activities.

“It’s grown every month since we started – and you can see why when you come along and hear everyone laughing and joking!

The wellness café is open to everybody over the age of 65 and is free!

Please join us first Monday of every month from 1-3pm at Greenhouse 35 Cosway street London NW1 5NS
