Training Day - Jan 2021
At Home Instead Watford we believe that being a CAREGiver is a professional and skilled role. The CAREGivers who are invited to the Welcome Program are unique individuals with varying working history and life experiences.
The Welcome Program is an intense learning pathway to earning the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised Award in the UK. The Care Certifcate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of our CAREGivers when supporting your family and friends. There is a blended training approach to achieving the Care Certificate, this includes a three-and-a-half-day Welcome Program where our Trainer Jo Trevett, delivers learning on the Aging Process, Safeguarding CAREGivers and Clients and Building Relationships as well as practical skills involved in supporting with Medication, Moving and Assisting and Basic Life Saving. This training compliments, the in house ELearning system which guides the CAREGiver through Dignity and Privacy, Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disability, Fluids and Nutrition to name a few.
The learning does not stop there; the CAREGivers are then supported with a client to take their new found skills and knowledge and use them to positively support your loved ones. This approach to learning ensures that all our CAREGivers are supported and trained a consistently high standard ensuring that all the clients are getting the best support and assistance. The learning and support continues for twelve weeks for the Care Certificate to be achieved.
The learning doesn’t stop there! Formal and informal learning and development continues alongside opportunities for career progression throughout their careers with Home Instead Watford.
