Training and Support
One of the things we pride ourselves on here at Home Instead Watford, is the ongoing support and training we give to our CAREGivers.
We train them to have the skills and confidence to care for older people in their own home which includes how to provide care with dignity and respect. As well as CAREGivers, we also train our office team, and everyone who may be in contact with our clients.
At the end of last year, Home Instead was awarded the Princess Royal Training Award for our End of Life Training. This training equips our CAREGivers with essential skills for caring for older people in the end stages of life. Jo, our Training and Development Manager, has delivered this training to some of our CAREGivers who found it invaluable and have already been able to put it into practice whilst caring for clients who are end of life.
Recently, Alexis and Jo ran a Healthy Mind, Healthy Body workshop which was written specifically for Home Instead Watford. Our CAREGivers spend so much time looking after other people they will often often put themselves at the bottom of the pile. So it was our time to help them look after themselves. It was the first time we have run this workshop and the feedback was fantastic!
This is what JMK, one of our CAREGivers who attended, had to say about the training; ‘The training was very informative, enlightening, interactive and empowering and I enjoyed it to say the least. I think it is a brilliant idea and was great to be reminded of the importance of taking care of not only our clients but also taking care of ourselves and what the possible consequences of not taking care of ourselves are.’
One of our CAREGivers summed up our training in our independent survey from last year; 'The training (at Home Instead) is amazing, makes me feel I can deal with most situations easily.’
