Launch of new Memory Cafe

Last Friday we were delighted to launch a brand new memory cafe to be held in Watford town centre. We have set up the cafe, in partnership with Watford & Three Rivers Trust as part of Watford's plan to become an accredited dementia-friendly town

Peter Taylor, Mayor of Watford had this to say, ‘Many people live in our town with Dementia and I know from my own experience that it can be hard to see this change in a loved one. However, it doesn’t mean that it not possible to live a happy and full life. Earlier this year we asked people living with dementia and their carers to tell us how we can change so that we are better at supporting them. We had lots of great ideas and the most popular was for a café or a social space where people could come together and feel supported in the town centre.’

The morning was a great success and it was great to see so many people come along to support and show their interest in the cafe.

Every month this friendly and welcoming cafe will have stimulating activities, gentle exercise and lots of fun. Plus there will be a separate area for carers to meet, chat and share experiences. We will be meeting the first Friday of every month, the next one taking place on Friday 1st November, 10.30 am - 12.30 pm, at St Mary's Church, Church Street, Watford. So please come along and see what a fantastic venture this is.
