Introducing our CAREGivers

We want to introduce you to our CAREGivers who are at the heart of everything we do. So we asked some of our CAREGivers to answer a few questions about working for Home Instead to help encourage others to think about a career in care.

1 What is the best thing about working for Home Instead?
The best thing about working for Home Instead is being a part of a warm, caring family, and working as a team knowing they care and are always there if you need help or to talk.

2 How long have you worked for Home Instead?

I started when Home Instead was born in November 2010 which is where Jody and I first met and have been work colleagues and friends ever since. I had to leave in 2012 for various reasons, then my mother passed away November of that year and I wasn't ready to do care for quite a while. I returned in October 2016 and haven’t looked back, it was like coming home again. I always maintained contact with Peter and Alexis and others during the time I had left and they always invited me to their amazing summer BBQs even though I hadn’t worked for them for a while.

3 What made you consider a career in care?

I considered care as my children had all left home and it felt right when I read the advert for Home Instead. It was a warm and inviting advert and I loved caring for my late mother and wanted to give something back.

4 What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?

I love baking cakes and drawing and love being with my children and helping my growing family of grandchildren.

5 How does the job fit in well with your life?

It fits in well with my life as my husband is retired and takes me to my first call in the morning without fail and being in my early 60’s I want to keep busy and active for as long as I can. I can still enjoy my family life too.
