Dementia friendly Christmas concert
We had a truly wonderful time at the Home Instead and Herts Musical Memories Christmas concert at St Mary’s Church at the beginning of this month.
It was Watford’s first dementia-friendly carol concert and was enjoyed by people living with Dementia and their carers. We were delighted to have been joined by special guests Luther Blissett, an ex-Watford FC player and also Little Green Junior School, who sang a number of traditional Christmas carols. It was also lovely to see some of our CAREGivers there with some of our clients.
The concert was led by Kerry Brabant, the founder of Herts Musical Memories, who had everyone singing and joining in. She started Herts Musical Memories in order to continue the important Singing for the Brain service, originally provided by the Alzheimer’s Society, as she knew, from personal experience, just how important singing and music is for people with dementia and their carers.
Herts Musical Memories delivers regular singing sessions that are both fun and therapeutic for people with dementia and their carers. For more information visit their website https://www.hertsmusicalmemories.org.uk/index.html
