A Home Instead Watford Welcome - Sept 2020

We're delighted to welcome Vanessa to our office team. Vanessa will be taking on the role of Community Relationship Manager and will be spreading the word about Home Instead Watford and all we do to support our community.

Vanessa’s background has been mainly within the charitable sector, working with the older community in Watford and surrounding areas and has worked within the care industry on and off over the past 16 years.

Vanessa’s last role was as Health and Wellbeing Manager at Watford Three Rivers Trust. In her role Vanessa was responsible for leading on major community projects and she developed and relaunched the Getting Together service, which delivered social and wellbeing activities and clubs to over 350 older people for over 4 years. Vanessa led and supervised a team of volunteers to deliver weekly activities, plan day trips and parties.

Alexis and Peter met Vanessa through their own networking within the community and last year worked with Vanessa to set up the memory café in Watford in partnership with W3RT. Vanessa has also played an active part in the Dementia Friendly Watford steering group which Alexis and Peter are part of.

We were looking for someone whose responsibilities would be raising the profile of Home Instead in Watford as the home care provider of choice and employer of choice. We needed someone who knows and shares the Home Instead values and culture and with Vanessa’s experience in the care sector and her connections within the local community we knew she was perfect for the job. Given that we had already known Vanessa for some time and worked along side her, we knew straight away that she matched our values and jumped at the opportunity for her to join us.

Vanessa lives in Watford with her husband and she has two grown up children, Harry and Lily and two wonderful grandchildren. She keeps herself  busy in her  garden and allotment where she grows an assortment of fruit and veg. She loves it as it’s a great place to keep fit, unwind and relax.

We are very lucky to have Vanessa joining our team and know that with her experience and background she will actively represent Home Instead in the local community and make an excellent contribution to projects which are important to vulnerable adults.
