Lymm Sanctuary Hub
Home Instead Senior Care has teamed up with a number of other organisations and individuals locally in starting a new Memory Café in Lymm. It first opened its doors on Sept 26th bringing with it an opportunity to socialise & learn how to play Mexican train Dominoes!
Aimed at those who may be starting to experience memory issues, brought on by dementia or other illnesses, the Memory Cafe offers a friendly safe place to come for a chat and a change of four walls. It also provides the opportunity for information to be shared, such as help with Carer's Allowance which people may be eligible for, or simply some social contact over a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit.
We have been fortunate to receive donations from Asda branches at Birchwood and Westbrook including board games and other resources for which we are very thankful; there is also an opportunity for trying your hand at some creative crafts and fun games at these sessions.
In the future we plan to introduce other activities such as chair based exercises and musical reminiscences.
The sessions are available to anyone and are held once a fortnight. For more info contact 07748 309334 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
The sessions run from 1 - 3pm in the Lymm Sanctuary Hub Community Room (annexe adjacent to Lymm Library) every other Thursday from Oct 24th until Christmas.
The United Reformed Church in Lymm are also planning to host a dementia friendly short service once a month on a Thursday at 11am, with the Sanctuary Cafe available as always for some lunch, ahead of the Memory Cafe commencing at 1pm.
If you or a friend, or loved one would benefit from these kinds of social contact, or simply somewhere new to build friendships please feel free to come along and check out what's available.'
We have been delighted to see some of our clients enjoying themselves at the sessions, making new friends and getting out and about, a real joy.
