Home Instead Senior Care in Warrington are delighted to have teamed up with Apetito for a tasting session for clients and members of the care team of a wide range of the hot meals they supply to clients in their own homes.
We were first alerted to the benefits of Apetito as their slogan is “dining with dignity” and so very much fits with the ethos and values of Home Instead, which is also about promoting dignity, respect and choice for the older person.
Wiltshire Farm Foods and Apetito are part of the same group, Wiltshire being frozen meals whereas Apetito provides hot meals directly to people’s homes. They specialise in foods for people requiring special diets such as soft, pureed or ethnic meals. Their wide range of meals cater to all tastes and having sampled a selection of them, they certainly get our seal of approval.
Many of the people we support at Home Instead just need that extra bit of help, such as preparing a meal, light housekeeping or help with specific tasks that they might otherwise struggle with. By working with Apetito we can provide wrap around care which supports people to maintain their independence and enjoy a good quality of life. It also gives family members who may not live locally peace of mind knowing that their loved one is being helped in a way that best suits their needs by people who are passionate about what they do.
Of the many meals we tried on the day, the favourites ranged from the Chilli con Carne, Cauliflower and Broccoli Bake, Vegetarian Cottage Pie, Hot Pot, however the pureed carrots went down well, they had real taste and the pureed chicken. Also the potato and leek soup was delicious. The resounding favourite of the desserts was the orange sponge and custard.
Everyone was surprised at how beautifully presented the pureed meals were and that all of the dishes were extremely tasty and not at all what people expected. The website for the full range is www.mealsonwheels.info
