Southport Office Sponsors Community Christmas Dinner

HISC Southport, Formby & Crosby Office have today donated a cheque for £780.00 to NW Ambulance and Merseyside Fire & Rescue who are providing a Special Christmas Day Lunch for the elderly.  This will be held on the station premises in Southport.  This event has entered its second year and has gathered momentum since last year with a high number of people wishing to attend.   Statistics show how many older people living in Merseyside are affected by loneliness.  Around half a million older people in the UK saying Christmas day is when they feel most lonely, this was a fantastic opportunity to support the local community.

The Home Instead owners spotted the advert asking for sponsors in the local papers.  Anthea Pilkington and Irene Hough said "this fits exactly with the ethos of Home Instead.  It is so important to ensure that people who are socially isolated are supported, especially at Christmastime and we wanted to do all we could to help this fantastic initiative.   Irene Hough and Debbie Darby met with Sara Smith and Steve Bousefield from the service.   Irene said, we are delighted to be able to help out in any way we can.   We at Home Instead wish Sara, Steve and all the other volunteers at the Ambulance and Fire Service continued success in their venture to implement community based events.

The Ambulance and Fire Service were looking for local organisations to sponsor 10 tables for 40 people, and the Southport Office are pleased to have been able to sponsor 4 of the 10 tables needed, as well as donating a 7.5  foot pre-lit Christmas tree for the event, together with providing two CAREgivers to help out on the day.
