Home Instead Southport, celebrated the official launch of their new information centre in Waterloo on Tuesday 1st April. Franchise owners Anthea Pilkington and Irene Hough welcomed clients, staff and representatives of other organisations such as SPAC, The Stroke Association, The Fire Service and Christians Against Poverty to celebrate the event. The ribbon was cut by one of Home Instead’s clients Mrs Betty Baxter, who has used the services of the company for over 5 years.

Anthea stated ”we are delighted to have so many people come along to see what we are doing in the information centre. We felt that it was important to have this facility in this area to make the information more accessible to the local community here in Waterloo, Crosby and surrounding areas. It is also a real benefit, in having a drop in point for the many wonderful care staff that live locally".

Irene added “We look forward to providing further training facilities for our CAREGiver’s in this area and offering our unique Dementia Awareness workshops to both our staff, client’s family members and any person who feels that they would benefit from attending, the workshops are free to anyone and we have received extremely positive feedback from those who have attended our sessions in Southport”

Home Instead are currently recruiting part time CAREGiver’s across the area including Waterloo, Crosby, Formby and Southport. Over the next 3 months they aim to recruit 50 people to provide companionship and related care services to people who require care and support to be able to remain independent in their own home. The role involves visiting regular clients in your local area, CAREGiver’s are matched with clients according to their interests, personality and background. This consistency is what has really made a difference to Mrs Baxter, she sees the same CAREGiver every week and she finds that a real comfort.
