The co owner of the Southport and Crosby Home Instead franchise, Irene Hough recently met with John Pugh, Southport's local Liberal Democrat MP.

During John Pugh's first term at Westminster he served on the Transport, Local Government and Regions Select Committee and was Liberal Democrat education spokesperson with responsibility for schools.  Following his re-election to Parliament in 2005, he served as shadow spokesperson for Transport and Health, and, subsequent to the election of Nick Clegg as party leader worked with Vince Cable as Shadow Treasury spokesperson.

With the formation of the Coalition in 2010 he was appointed as Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Committee for Health and Social Care, a position he relinquished at the end of 2013 to focus on producing a report examining the social and economic issues facing the North.

Given John's past roles and his interest in improving social care for all, it was fitting that Irene spoke with John about the issues faced by our client's in accessing good quality services that can assist them to stay happy and healthy in their own homes.  John was extremely interested to hear about the work of Home Instead, in particular the recent Dementia workshop's and new training for our CAREGiver's. John was also interested in the creation of job's as this reflects his current drive to create work oppurtunities in his local community.

Irene stated " It was so nice to speak to John, and to engage with an MP, who feels so passionately about the need for the highest standadrds within social care.  I felt that John truly understood the aim of Home Instead, to change the face of ageing and I look forward to speaking with him again in the future"
