Fundraising Record for Macmillan Coffee Morning

Our recent annual ‘Macmillan Coffee Morning’ fundraising event took place with Clients, CAREGivers, office staff and community contacts coming together for an afternoon of cake and chatter.

Each year, people in the UK and worldwide host their own Coffee Mornings offering treats and tea to help fundraise for Macmillan Cancer, helping to support people living with cancer.

This year marked our fourth annual event and it was great to see so much community engagement with donations from supporting organisations including, Tesco, Aldi, Waitrose, One Stop Shop, various retailers at ocean plaza and many more.

Our home bakers raised the bar once again with eight different bake-off entries, which included a selection of cupcakes, brownies, cookies and even a Home Instead branded cake.

Bake off judge, Onofrio Maimone, owner of Volare and Deli Volare on Lord Street, had a hard task on his hands deciding just one winner. He chose the chocolate black forest cupcake bake, made by Home Instead CAREGiver Janet W. On receiving her winner’s prize (a bottle of Rose Bollinger) Janet said, “I am thrilled to win. I didn’t think for one minute my little cupcakes could win the bake off. I was just contributing to a good cause that I like to support”

Following a busy afternoon, the raffle was drawn, and the funds counted. We are delighted to announce we raised a record total of £507.
