Coping as a CAREGiver

Everyone who becomes a CAREGiver is going to encounter issues along the way. It can leave them with several questions which still need to be answered about the care they provide for a loved one and their own care which they owe themselves.

So below is a list of ways in which CAREGiver’s can become the best care provider they can and must remember that they must have someone to turn to when needed.

  1. Patience – Keeping calm and patient will develop a consistent routine, as well as respecting the independence and dignity of the person you are caring for.
  2. Make them feel good – Treat yourself to something such as a new haircut or some new cloths. It’s amazing how much of a difference this can make, no matter how small.
  3.  Take a break – Everyone needs a break from time to time and this can help you provide the best quality of care, after a little rest.
  4. Accept Help – Sometimes a little assistance goes a long way, so don’t be afraid of asking for help if needed at any time.
  5. Accept change – The person your caring for may of changed from the person you use to know. Accept this and live in the here and now in order to keep providing the best care you can.
