The Southport & Formby office has been owned and managed by Anthea Pilkington and Irene Hough since April 2007. Anthea has worked in social care since 1991 and was employed as the Care Manager for the first UK office. Irene worked as a legal secretary for one of the largest law firms in the North West. Irene was inspired to become involved when her late mother, Lillian was in her 80's and Irene experienced first hand the difficulties faced by families who need to work full time but want to ensure that their loved ones are happy and safe at home. Anthea saw first hand the huge difference that Home Instead was making to the lives of older people and when the pair decided to start their own business it was the perfect opportunity to start a business that they could be proud of.

The difference between Home Instead Southport & Formby, and other home care providers is their commitment to provide a high quality service that focuses on the person rather than the task. The care is tailored to each individual and takes into account individual needs and preferences. The Care Manager strives to find out what is important to the person as well as what is important for the person. It is a great comfort to an older person to know exactly who is coming and when their CAREGiver will arrive. In Southport & Formby a number of clients have had the same CAREGiver for a number of years, they know each other really well and both look forward to their visits.

The services are provided to suit the client, therefore the person tells Home Instead what time they want their CAREGiver to arrive, and what they want the CAREGiver to do, rather than having to accept what is available. The service is flexible and responsive from as little as 4 hours a week up to 24 hours a day, our CAREGivers are able to provide a range of services which can include companionship, home help services such as shopping and cleaning, meal preparation, local transportation to appointments, respite care and a full range of personal care services. Home Instead provides a specialist service for people who have Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

The CAREGivers employed by Home Instead are fully insured, vetted and trained to meet their clients' needs. Home Instead wants to ensure that they select and recruit the best people to become CAREGivers. They have a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to suit the diverse personalities and needs of our clients. Quite often our CAREGivers have personal experience of caring for a loved one and will always be there with a helping hand and a smile.
