It's Official, Home Instead is CQC Registered
Whether it’s an NHS Hospital like the Manchester Royal Infirmary or a Care company like Home Instead it’s the Care Quality Commission that’s responsible for making sure all care is delivered safely and effectively.
Before a new office like ours is able to offer Personal Care the CQC have to arrange to do an inspection. Usually this takes several months but the CQC have already been to see Home Instead South Manchester.
Getting ready was a lot of work, even though we were confident we were in good shape. We needed to make sure all our policies were clear, comprehensive and up to date. We needed to be absolutely certain that our procedures for training and supervising our CAREGivers were thorough and effective. And we had to be ready to prove that we could handle any problems; everything from looking after a client who’d had a fall, to demonstrating that we’d be able to carry on looking after our clients even if our offices burnt down!
Despite doing all our homework, we were still a bit nervous, particularly about the personal interviews, but the great news is we passed the test! Our inspector told us she had “no concerns at all” and our Registration Certificate is already proudly displayed in our offices. We’re delighted the CQC have given us their stamp of approval so quickly. We know looking after our clients is a great responsibility and it’s something we take very seriously. We’re Home Instead, for us this is more than just a business – “for us it’s personal.”
