It's the time of the year again when we launch our annual Be A Santa To A Senior scheme.
The idea is that we ask members of our local community to bring a little Christmas joy to a lonely older person by donating a small gift. We get together with some helpful local organisations to collect the gifts and then, just as the festive season begins, our very own Santa's Little Helpers deliver the gifts to local hospitals, care homes, and individuals.
Last year the super generous and thoughtful people of South Manchester donated over 800 presents, every single one of which was wrapped and delivered into the deserving hands of a senior somewhere in our community.
This year the community minded teams at four of our local libraries and three local branches of Boots the Chemist have very kindly agreed to act as Collection Points for the gifts that we hope will flood in once again.
So if amid the frenzy of your own festive preparations you'd like to do something that will genuinely make the Christmas of a lonely older person then why not consider donating a little something. If you do, then the elves at our local libraries and branches of Boots will be happy to collect it and pass it on to us for delivery by sleigh (or in the absence of snow, by Mini Cooper S).
