First Aid Awareness Training

Another successful training day at Home Instead South Lanarkshire where our Caregivers were put through their Emergency First Aid Awareness training.

This was something that our Caregivers had requested as they felt it would help both them and their clients, if a client injured themselves when our Caregivers were out supporting them.

Barry White from Tutor Care was a great facilitator and all the Caregivers thoroughly enjoyed the training and all the practical exercises that Barry taught them to do. The course provided our Caregivers with a general understanding of First Aid and how to manage incidents safely and raise their general awareness of what to do in an emergency.

The course covered :

· Managing incidents
· Recovery position – practical exercise
· Basic Life Support – CPR – practical exercise
· Control of Bleeding
· Choking
· Eye injury
· Examination of a Casualty
· Unconsciousness
· Head Injuries
· Strain and Sprains
· Shock
· Practice dressing wounds

All the Caregivers felt the course was very beneficial and they all learned new skills, which they hopefully will not have to use, but feel a lot more confident within themselves should they ever need to respond to a first aid incident.

They all went away with their new skills and their certificate’s and the knowledge that they were now all capable of providing first aid to their clients should they need to.
