Best Practice in Dementia Care

Home Instead South Lanarkshire have teamed up with the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling, to help improve the level of care given to people living with dementia within South Lanarkshire.

The Dementia Services Development Centre is based at the University of Stirling and was founded in 1989 to extend and improve services for people with dementia. It provides training and consultancy services, as well as carrying out research and producing publications.

Home Instead South Lanarkshire leadership team have now completed the Best Practice in Dementia Care course which now allows us to be registered group facilitators for this course. We feel strongly that if we are to offer the best possible service to our customers then we can only do this through first class learning and development of our Care Givers. Once trained our Care Givers will have a City & Guilds Accreditation, which is excellent for them, but more importantly their level of knowledge and understanding of working with individuals with dementia will be at a very high standard and in line with the Scottish Governments Promoting Excellence Strategy.

As the number of people living with dementia at home grows, then our Care Givers will play a significant role in supporting them and their families to maintain their independence. In many cases this can be a difficult experience both for the family and for the person suffering with dementia, so we feel it is important that our Care Givers are well equipped to help them cope during these difficult times.

The best place for a person with memory loss is in familiar surroundings. The services provided Home Instead Senior Care are a valuable, trusted solution to help your loved one maintain a regular routine, enhancing his or her quality of life.
