Mike Jefferies - Director
I’m Mike and I’ve been involved in Home Instead since 2010, when my wife Clare founded the Wimbledon & Kingston office. I joined the team in 2015 when I saw how much pride and satisfaction Clare gained from helping people with a really useful and much needed local service. As word started to spread about the good service the team provide, I came on board to help manage the increasing demand for help from our local clients.
In early 2016 we were recognised by the government care watchdog, the Care Quality Commission, as the first and only home care business in London to be recognised as Outstanding. You can read more about what they said here.
Later in 2016 we were approached by the Home Instead National Office to see if we would also be interested in managing the neighbouring Richmond and Twickenham office and we jumped at the chance!
We took ownership of the Richmond and Twickenham franchise in January 2017 and are enjoying getting to know the team in the office, our CAREGivers and our much valued clients.
Prior to joining Home Instead I spent almost 30 years working in London’s advertising agencies. Whilst it really is a fun industry to work in, after a while, selling products to people that don’t really need them started to wear thin and I found myself looking for a more fulfilling career.
Nothing moves us more here than hearing how we help improve our clients quality of life and remain independent in their homes as long as possible.
Zsofia Brada - Office Administrator
My name is Zsofia. Having spent 5 years in education as a teacher in Hungary, I decided to spread my wings and moved to London in order to improve my English language skills. I was working as a Nanny at the beginning and although I was lucky enough to look after 3 adorable children, I missed the sense of satisfaction from my working life.
In 2015 I started to work for Home Instead Senior Care as a CAREGiver over the weekends to fulfil this goal in my life. After taking care of a 95 year old lady , I fell in love with this role and the ethos of the company.
Therefore, when I saw the vacancy of the Administrator position, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands to apply for this post. Being a compulsively organised person, I love to support and be part of the office team. Going to work with a smile on my face with the knowledge that we make a difference every day is priceless for me.
When I’m not labelling the office files... I dance salsa, prepare for the proficiency in English exam or play tennis.”

Clare Jefferies - Registered Care Manager
Hello, I'm Clare, Director of Home Instead in Richmond and the founder of Home Instead in Wimbledon and Kingston. It’s hard to contain my enthusiasm as I know I run something wonderful! I set up Home Instead in 2010 with the backing and partnership of my lovely husband Mike. We live in Wimbledon with our two boys Paddy 17, Felix 14 and our dog, Tilly. I've lived and worked in Wimbledon for over 25 years and prior to Home Instead used to be an estate agent with Hamptons in Wimbledon Village and prior to that manage Corporate events.
There is a wonderful world of caring people right on our doorstep. Since establishing Home Instead, I've spent a lot of time getting to know doctors, nurses, hospitals, physiotherapists, churches, community groups and charities across Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden, Worcester Park, Coombe and Wimbledon. I've been a trustee of Age UK, am a patron of Love Kingston and a member of Kingston Hospital's Dementia Strategy Steering Group. If I can help you or your loved one embrace life or just help with the everyday tasks that are becoming too much then I would love to find you a companion who can help.
As each day goes by it never ceases to overwhelm me how brilliant Home Instead is and the difference we make to older people's lives every single day. I love it more now than the very first day we opened the business. How lucky I am!
Mariecar Lightwood-Clark - Care Manager
As long as I can remember, most of my family have been involved in health care; from my grandmother, to my mother and my cousins. I thought I would take a different approach to my life when it came to career choices, but deep down I always knew that I wanted to be involved in health care. You can say that my family rubbed off on me.
In 2007 I graduated from the University of West London with a degree in New Media Journalism, during which I interned as the health adviser for an Asian website 'Dr Desi'. By the end of the year I took up a career at a property management company in Canary Wharf starting as the marketing consultant then moving on up to property manager for four years.
Then in 2012 I took a chance and dived into the deep end by making a career change and following my passion in to health & social care. In all honesty I have never been happier. Home Instead took me in as a CAREGiver and I have never looked back. Working with this company and the clients have opened my eyes and put a smile on my face, the sense of fulfillment in my working life with Home Instead has brought opportunities to me. For example; I have gained certificates in Equality & Diversity Level 2, Team Leading Level 2 and Develop As A Social Care Worker. This led me to my position in the company as the staff coordinator and administrator, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Following maternity leave in 2014, I became the Deputy Care Manager and then in September 2017 I was promoted to Care Manager at Home Instead Senior Care Richmond. I love speaking with clients and working alongside all our CAREGivers and our fantastic office team who are a joy to work with.
My goal in the next year is to gain my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and to strive to be the best I can be!
Katie Maycock - Care Coordinator
Katie began working for Home Instead Senior Care Richmond as a CAREGiver in 2015. It was clear from day one Katie had a passion for helping people and really wanted to make a difference to peoples lives.
In April 2016 Katie began working as a field care supervisor, which meant she was able to help other CAREGivers and share her experiences and make a bigger difference to our clients lives.
In February 2017 Katie was promoted to Care Coordinator, where her role involves the high pressure scheduling to ensure our Clients are seeing the right CAREGiver, at the right time and that our precious CAREGivers have the right number of calls and the calls are sufficiently planned so that they can easily get from one call to the next.
Katie said about working for Home Instead Senior Care Richmond, "Ever since I started working for Home Instead, I knew they were a great company to work for as they are passionate about giving the best of care to the elderly clients we have. I have dedicated myself to the people we care for and love being able to help and be there for them. I feel privileged to be able to give my time caring for the elderly and ensuring they get the best care they could ask for."
Elaine Ottaway - Field Care Supervisor
Elaine joined Home Instead Senior Care Richmond after a long career in care. Elaine's passion and dedication to making a difference to people’s lives quickly shone through; we wanted to be able to share her enthusiasm and knowledge with other CAREGivers and she accepted the position of a field care supervisor.
When asked about her position with Home Instead Senior Care Richmond, Elaine said "I have been a carer for three and a half years, and I was recently lucky enough to become a CAREGiver for Home Instead. I am privileged to be welcomed into a client’s home, as if I were one of the family and in addition, I gain enormous satisfaction from enabling them to stay independent in their own environment, which enhances their wellbeing."
Tim Wiggins - Trainer
Hello, I’m Tim and I've been involved in the care world since I was 18 months old as my parents worked in nursing homes and I would spend days out with the residents. Recently I've worked for South East Coast Ambulance Service as a part of a Paramedic crew and have seen and learnt a lot over the past years.
I feel privileged to work as the Trainer at Home Instead Senior Care with such a great team of people who come from all walks of life and all have the same objectives. With a background from both the care world and working on the front line as Paramedic crew my role now is to prepare new CAREGivers for an amazing new career with Home Instead.
When I'm not training our team I'm often found on a lake on a Wakeboard. I've been Wakeboarding now for 4 years and am starting to compete and recently took 1st place in the Intermediate and Open category.
Joanna Carter - Community Events Coordinator
I originally come from a science background, but decided after looking after my dad through serious illness, I wanted to help people hands on rather than from a laboratory! I started off with Home Instead Senior Care as a CAREGiver, then managed the Office Administration and now I am responsible for all the activities and events that we hold in the community.
We hold Memory Cafes, Singing for the Brain, Supper Clubs as well as managing CAREGiver support visits and trips to the historic palaces, I make sure they run smoothly and are enjoyed by all who attend.
I still do CAREGiving as well. I realised through personal experience how much of a difference good care can make when you are entrusting your loved ones to someone and I loved Home Instead’s ethos from the beginning.
I spend my spare time crafting, trying to bribe my Norwegian forest cat down from the tops of my furniture and drinking an unhealthy amount of tea.
Lindsay Crause - Bookkeeper
I joined the office team as Bookkeeper in August 2017. I lived in South Africa for most of my life and, after completing a degree in Accounting, decided to come to London for 6 months for a bit of travel and work experience - that was 10 years ago!
After working in accounting practices for many years, I heard about the job through my mum (one of our CAREGivers) and got excited about the role - this was exactly what I was looking for!
I love working for Home Instead and am inspired daily by the passion everyone has for what they do.
I live with my husband and our beautiful children (currently aged 2 & 4) and we enjoy baking, walks on our local common and the occasional movie day.
