Home Instead Reading has awarded the accolade CAREGiver of the Year 2012 to Ruth Hilbourne.

Ruth who lives in West Reading with her son and her husband George, joined the team in March this year and has gone from strength to strength in her new role.

In announcing the award, Home Instead Reading’s Director Philip Keohane was delighted that Ruth had to overcome some stiff competition from other CAREGivers in order to claim the prize.

‘I am really proud of the commitment and positive attitude shown by the whole group throughout this, our first year.  Everyone in the team is a true advocate for what we do and they set out to enhance our reputation in the community every day by making the lives of those they come into contact with more fulfilled and rewarding’.

What set Ruth apart in the end though was her commitment outside of her daily work schedule to broaden her knowledge and skills through enrolling herself onto a number of courses.  The knowledge she has gained from these courses has enabled her to gain greater understanding of both the physical and psychological issues that her clients are facing. She has been able to put these skills to use to encourage and stimulate her clients to have more fulfilling lives.
