Be a Santa to a Senior 2019

As Christmas is soon approaching, local at home care company, Home Instead Senior Care Norwich, has launched their annual ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ gift-giving scheme.

Since 2013, Home Instead has been collecting donated gifts from members of the community. A team of volunteers then wrap the gifts in festive wrapping paper and deliver them to older people in Norwich who may not otherwise receive a Christmas present.

Examples of small gifts suitable for an older person include slippers, blankets, chocolate, sweets, puzzle books and toiletries.

Mark Johnston, Community Relations Manager at Home Instead, commented on the gift giving scheme: “Being able to donate gifts to lonely, older people and see the difference we have made to their Christmas is truly an honour. As a home care provider for the elderly, we see how loneliness can affect people, so this scheme is extremely important to us.

”We are looking forward to donate the gifts to people who would not otherwise have a present to open on Christmas day. Over the last few years, we have donated over 1000 gifts to attendees of local lunch clubs, day centres, dementia cafes, hospitals, churches and people living in sheltered accommodations.”
