What Home Instead have been up to this Christmas.

Thank you for all that you do

Traditionally the Home Instead office team has been well known for their love of the Christmas period, however, this year was always set to be different from the previous years. We can all be immensely proud of how we have responded and dealt with these unprecedented times, we are certainly proud of our superstar CAREGivers and office team, thank you for your continued efforts in consistently providing the highest standard of care for our clients.

Your Home Instead

We kicked off December with the production of the second edition of "Potteries Puzzles and Castle Conundrums - Your Home Instead". The Christmas-themed magazine featuring, activities, puzzles, crosswords, useful contact numbers advertorials from local businesses such as Taylors Butchers, Trentham, as well as general information on who Home Instead are and what we do. The pandemic has seen social clubs and groups suspended, this has halted the social lives of many elderly and vulnerable people. The main purpose of the magazine was to try and combat the loneliness caused by COVID-19 restrictions, providing readers with a way of keeping busy, informed, and entertained. If you know of an organisation or someone that would be interested in a copy or if anyone has any interesting material from themselves or their service, then please let us know and we can share that information across the community in future editions. Chosen Festive Charity

As part of our festive tradition we chose a charity or organisation to support as our “Chosen Festive Charity” last year saw us sponsor the brilliant, UHNM Charity- Fresh Hair Wigs & Wellbeing Salons at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospitals”. This year we opted for our furry friends and decided to collect donations on behalf of The City Dogs Home in Bucknall, they made us aware of their lack of blankets and food around their busiest most challenging time of the year. We set up and decorated a large donation box and left it in the Home Instead office, Trentham, and shared the news on our social media platforms. We were overwhelmed by the number of donations received and the donation box simply was not big enough we managed to fill the office with blankets, toys, accessories, beds, and dog food.

It was so special seeing how everyone came together to help support our chosen festive charity and make a dog's Christmas this year, supporting The City Dogs Home through the difficult months ahead. All donations were delivered on Christmas eve by Directors, Paul and Sandra Edden, The City Dogs Home were overjoyed with the donations. We would like to give a massive thank you to CAREGivers, office staff, the local community, friends, and family for their selflessness this Christmas.

PPE Collection Day with a Christmas Twist

Finally, in a year that has seen us unable to put Christmas decorations up inside the office, we managed to let out some of our crazy Christmas spirit in which even the “Grinches” of the office could not resist taking part. We decided to surprise CAREGiver's on PPE Collection day by transforming the office front into a Home Instead Grotto. The office staff were dressed in their festive attire, Managing Director Paul Edden featured as Santa Clause and Christmas songs played out all day! It was brilliant being able to catch up and see all our CAREGiver's face to face and also great to have the office together again (socially distanced of course). On the CAREGivers short stay, we provided them with their PPE, Christmas cards/ gifts, and hot chocolate. Office staff and CAREGiver's posed for photos in our life-size Home Instead personalised picture frame for which we must thank AJB Repro! This Christmas also saw the return of the CAREGiver prize draw; the winners of the prize draw for two M&S Christmas cakes had them personally delivered on Christmas eve by our Directors.

Despite the obvious problems this year has caused we still managed to make it a Christmas to remember!
