Ideas for restless hands......
You may have heard of TWIDDLE MUFFS which are very popular amongst people living with Alzheimer's or other dementia as they are a fantastic way of calming people and giving restless hands something to do.
In the words of Margaret Light (Creator of the Twiddle Muff): - Twiddle®Muff was created to give my Grandmother’s inquisitive hands something to keep them moving, active and warm and remind her how much she is loved, even when I couldn’t be with her.
Recently one of our fantastic CAREGivers Julie took it upon herself to make some beautiful twiddle muffs for the benefit of our clients at Home Instead, Lytham.
We put a call out for supplies and we managed to collect a lot of unused wool from our Clients and staff team, together with a bundle of togs, buttons and tags which Julie has turned into these wonderful creations. Many have already been passed on to clients who find great comfort and distraction in ‘twiddling’ and there are plenty more on the way........
We also have some twiddle cloths created by the Mum of one of our CAREGivers. These are material pieces in all shapes and sizes, just right for distracting people but also for calming them.
At Home Instead we love to care and to help our clients ease their worries, even when we cannot be there.
