Home Instead are hosting a series of free workshops in Lytham to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. We will be using techniques and research from The Home Instead Alzheimer’s CARE programme which is City & Guilds accredited and is the only one of its kind in the UK developed and delivered by a care organisation. This fantastic programme enhances knowledge on how Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia can affect the individual, techniques to help manage behaviours as the condition progresses and increase awareness for community members and businesses.
We are running free workshops to members of the public, including family and friends who are caring for a loved one, healthcare professionals and charities and anyone with an interest in finding out more about the condition.
The free event we have planned is:
- Thursday 23rd May 1pm – 3pm at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall, Lytham – this is aimed at families, friends, community members and groups affected by memory loss and dementia.
Because we understand that it can be very challenging for family members supporting their loved ones who are experiencing memory loss or have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, our objective is to support those people who are involved in caring for them. Our workshops will enable them to positively embrace the journey they face, rather than be afraid of it.
The four elements of the Family and Community Education Workshop are:
Class 1 – Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias
Class 2 – Capturing Life’s Journey
Class 3 – Techniques to Manage Behaviours
Class 4 – Encourage Engagement
