On Sunday, Home Instead Senior Care offices in Lancashire came together to celebrate the 1st Birthday of The Royal British Legion’s Admiral Nurse Team and the community services they provide for people who are affected by dementia. The celebratory tea dance was held at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool and we were delighted that the sun made an appearance.
The day started with some old classics played by the military band and then we walked under an armed guard into the ballroom. Once there, over 100 people who the Legion has supported over the last year were treated to afternoon tea before engaging in some ballroom dancing.
Sophie Hoyle Director from Home Instead Senior Care’s Fylde and Wyre office commented, "The day was wonderful and it was great to see so many people who have been helped by this much needed service provided by the Admiral Nurse Team."
*The Royal British Legion partnered with Dementia UK back in July 2012 to provide a community nursing service - The Royal British Legion Admiral Nurse Service. The focus of the service is to achieve a better quality of life for those with dementia, their carers and families by ensuring they get the practical support and advice they need. Over the last year they have helped over 260 families. To be eligible for this service, the Legion beneficiary can be either the person with dementia or the carer.
