A Christmas Gift

At Home Instead we pride ourselves on going ‘over and above’ for our lovely clients, providing the kind of high quality care that we would want for our own family.

Recently our CAREGiver Christine did just this, making the lives of her client Vi and her children all the richer as a result of doing something really special.

During her visits Christine had become aware that Vi had always kept a diary and journals throughout her life, documenting important times and recording cherished memories, many of which Vi herself does not now remember.   So, to ensure that this little bit of history lives on Christine decided to make a Memory Book’ of Vi’s life, filled with stories and treasured photographs of her life with her husband and her children.   The results are AMAZING and a true testament to the care and diligence Christine has shown in putting this together.   She has typed up excerpts from Vi’s journals, selected some wonderful photographs from Vi’s collection to accompany the stories and the result is a wonderful record of a life lived with love.

The idea came about when Christine was helping Vi to think of an idea for a Christmas present for her children David and Lynne – what better present than to reflect and look back on the wonderful life their Mum has lived and to share some of these memories with her again.

Christine made two journals and these were handed over by Vi on Christmas Day to her son David and daughter Lynne.   A very special Christmas present indeed.

Earlier this year Christine received our CAREGiver of the Year award and as the year ends you can see why.   Special people do special things and Christine is one of those people – someone that we are very lucky to have working with us at Home Instead.

Sophie our Director got the opportunity to have a look through the journal with Christine before they got wrapped up and was suitably amazed at what Christine had done, all in her own time, for the pleasure of her beloved client.

THANK YOU CHRISTINE!
