Around 1,700 people in Cornwall face this condition, and since 2016, our experienced team has supported families across St Austell, Bodmin, Wadebridge, Fowey and Lostwithiel from our Par Moor office. With one-hour minimum visits, personal Caregiver introductions, and expert training and support from our office team, we deliver consistent, compassionate home care. Parkinson’s affects everyone differently and often progresses slowly, allowing many to continue to live full, active lives. At Home Instead Mid Cornwall, we tailor care to each person’s needs – starting with a few visits a week for outings or respite for family carers. Elizabeth in Bodmin , for example, loved her weekly café trips to Lanhydrock. When she could no longer drive, her family asked us to help. As her needs changed, we began visiting daily at 9:15am to support her morning routine. She still enjoys walks in the gardens at Lanhydrock with her Caregiver – always followed by tea and cake, just how she likes it. We tailor our care to suit what the individual person wishes and needs.

Our Care Coordinators design personalised Care Plans around each person’s needs and preferences, always focused on maintaining independence. We support with medication, and as needs grow, assist with tasks like washing and dressing. Our office team trains Caregivers in medication and cream application, with weekly checks to ensure everything’s done safely. Bill in Wadebridge , who lives with Parkinson’s, always looked forward to his weekly trips to Trevone beach. When mobility became harder, his Caregiver Caroline made sure he could still go—driving him there and walking alongside him with a stick. She now visits daily to help him start his day right, keeping his routine and freedom intact.

Every Care Professional completes Parkinson’s-specific training for challenges such as tremor, rigidity, freezing episodes, fatigue, medication routines and mobility support. Using our relationship-led model (developed for dementia and frailty), we provide consistent, familiar care that adapts as needs change across Mid Cornwall. With one-hour minimum visits and personal introductions, we help clients stay safe and independent at home, while supporting family carers too. Training runs regularly at our Par Moor centre near St Austell using real-life scenarios. Parkinson’s UK in Cornwall – Activities and advice for people living with Parkinson’s and their families and friends. St Austell drop In – Every 2nd Wednesday of the month 10:30 and and 2 pm. We’ll be helping run the cafe with Parkinson’s Cornwall. “We aim to provide fellowship, information and a program of fun activities, guest speakers and exercise to music.
