Overnight care is to help people who need assistance at night. This can we a sleep in night where a Care Professional is able to sleep at the client’s house. A waking night is when the Care Professional is up more than three times or stays awake for the visit. In Mid Cornwall we can provide Overnight care. It is often for existing clients where there has been an increase in need. For example, where the main carer is unwell themselves or away for a short time. We have also put overnight care in place when someone is revering from an illness or is towards end of life.

Clients needing overnight care benefit from our relationship model. They will know our Care Professionals well and feel confident they can receive assistance at night if needed. If they require more complex care such as with a catheter or stoma, or advanced moving and handling our professional and experienced team can support with this. Trevor in Par needed to go to hospital for two weeks for a serious operation. He was the main carer for his wife Betty who we had been providing some companionship care to. Our Care team put in 24 hour care, including overnight so Trevor was reassured she was being looked after and Betty was able to stay at home safely where she wanted to be.
