Christmas gifts for our elderly patients

The Covid 19 pandemic has, and will continue to impact all corners of our community and unfortunately, we are looking at a very different Christmas this year.

One place that will be massively effected is our local hospital wards, specifically our geriatric wards which are predicted to be at full capacity. It is unknown what the restrictions will be, but it is unlikely that patients in our hospitals will be allowed any visitors. Even without the added implications of the current situation, many older people would spend Christmas alone and not receive a card or gift.

We at Home Instead want to change this, and ensure that the most vulnerable members of our community feel included and appreciated.

That is why we have decided to source gifts for as many elderly patients as we possibly can - but we need all the support we can get!

Are you able to provide a gift for an elderly person in hospital? The gift does not need to be expensive. Anything from socks, mugs, gift sets or even something handmade - you are free to be creative! No need to worry about wrapping either, as we will be wrapping, sorting and delivering the gifts to The Royal Liverpool Hospital.

We know these are hard times for everyone, but if you are able to spare a gift then please drop it to our office at 9 Church Road, Wavertree. L15 9EA (above Penny Lane Flowers). We are currently operating a 'closed door' policy to keep you and our staff safe, so simply ring the bell and somebody will come to the door and accept your gift(s) safely. If you are unable to get to our office then please let us know, we will do all we can to arrange a local collection.

We have received numerous messages of support and we would like to thank anyone who has spread the word or offered their help. If you would like to get involved in our campaign please get in touch! You can email, call 0151 559 2555 or message us via our social media.
