The Ilkley Team
Mrs Gillian Adams
Hello, my name is Gillian Adams and I am the Care Manager for Home Instead Senior Care, Ilkley. I have over five year's of care experience, and began my career as a carer, before working my way up the ladder.
I am a qualified fitness instructor, and before working in the care industry, I previously owned my own business, in the food and drink sector.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, eating out, looking after my grandson and watching him play rugby.
Ms Bren Torry - Owner
Hello, my name is Brenda Torry and I own and run the Home Instead Senior Care office in Ilkley.
Most of my working background has been in care and education. I started working for the NHS in 1982, and after a 12 year career in nursing and social work I moved into teaching and research. I spent almost 14 years working at Bradford University, 12 years of which were in the School of Pharmacy.
I started thinking about running my own business after my dad was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia 4 years ago. I wanted to do something that would make a positive impact within the community, but would provide some flexibility to support my parents. It was only after my dad experienced a bad fall and hospitalisation in February 2014 that I first had direct experience of working with Home Instead Senior Care, and having been impressed, I took the opportunity to set up an office in this area.
Outside of work I enjoy long walks with the dog. I am a beekeeper and love everything to do with beekeeping. I am also a volunteer with VoiceAbility (for looked after children).
Miss Ashleigh Brice- Care Coordinator
Hello, my name is Ashleigh Brice and I am the Care Coordinator at Home Instead Senior Care. I started this role in August 2017 after working as a Senior CAREGiver for just over 2 years. I am a qualified Sports Therapist which helps to inform my practice with regards to moving and handling. I also lead our basic life support training for all new and current staff. In my spare time I enjoy eating out, running and spending time with friends.
We were very happy with the service we received from Home Instead. The staff dealt well with my Mother's reluctance to be cared for by non-family members, and were flexible to accommodate the family's changing needs. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for home care for an elderly relative. If I had two words to sum them up it would be quiet and respectful.Mrs B, Ilkley
