Why we celebrate franchise resales within our network

For some, franchise resales can be seen in a negative light. Surely it’s a ‘fail’ that a franchisee would wish to leave the business?

That’s not how it is, especially with a mature franchise like Home Instead, it marks success. Indeed, we start planning a franchisee’s exit from the day they sign up. It’s not as odd as it sounds. For the team at Home Instead, it’s all about our franchisees getting the best experience from working with us.

And to allow us to do that we need to understand their business and personal goals. For example, a franchisee may wish to retire in 10 years so we make sure that their business plan reflects this.

The British Franchise Association (bfa) say that a mature franchise business should be aiming for 10% of its network selling each year.

A resale represents the culmination of a franchisee’s wishes – when they come to sell, for whatever reason, but often due to retirement, they will have achieved their goals and had a fantastic time as part of the Home Instead family.

Resales have the added benefit of bringing new blood and fresh ideas into the network which is a good thing.

We all have different skills in business. Some people love the cut and thrust of starting something new – the sheer excitement of setting up a new business, recruiting a team and being there right from the start.

But for others, that’s not for them. For a franchisee looking for a resale, it’s about all the benefits from buying a going concern, with an existing team and the opportunity to build the business which excites them.

And whilst a resale will require a higher initial investment, you will be generating an income from the start.

We currently have a number of resale offices available, you can find the details here: https://franchise-development.hisc.test/our-territories/territory-resales/
