Owning a franchise

The first step: becoming a franchisee

Ours is an ethical, people-based business – from the care delivered to clients through to the mutual respect between us and our franchisees, underpinned by a culture of working together for the greater good. But what do you need to become a franchisee?

  • Good business acumen and a will to succeed.
  • Strong and compassionate people skills.
  • A burning desire to help people.

Owning a franchise

Being a Home Instead franchisee is very rewarding. You’ll have your own office and will be responsible for a territory with at least 25,000 people over the age of 65. You’ll manage the business (including finance, marketing and people management), oversee the daily operations and build relationships with key referral providers in your territory.

What we love about Home Instead

Growing your business

With the right commitment and drive, your business should thrive. While you’re developing your franchise (whether a resale or a new territory) and supporting your clients and Care Professionals, you’ll also enjoy support from our National Office and our network of franchisees. This will help you to grow and in time you’ll help new franchisees to grow. It’s a win-win situation for everyone. Meanwhile, we’ll use the latest technology to stay in touch with clients, to help them to stay in touch with their friends and family, and to monitor them for any unusual lifestyle patterns that could denote a problem. Technology complements but will never replace the personal touch provided by your friendly and dedicated Care Professionals.

Developing your services

The services you’ll provide include home help, medication support, local transportation, meal preparation, specialist and respite care, and convalescence. You’ll be offering a minimum of one-hour calls to clients to deliver these services with high-quality care. You might also be supporting clients with long-term conditions, including Alzheimer’s, dementia and Parkinson’s, so they can stay where they feel most comfortable – at home. As your business grows you can begin offering healthcare services such as diabetes monitoring and stoma care, as well as utilising live-in care where a Care Professional moves into their client’s home to provide care. In partnership with experts, we’ve developed bespoke training courses for Care Professionals that are City & Guilds assured.

Business opportunity

Owning a care franchise in the UK is a fantastic opportunity. The demand for care services is steadily increasing, and will continue to grow for many years to come. Home-based care is becoming a preferred choice to address this demand. By owning a care franchise, you have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of elderly individuals in need while also making a difference to your own.
