Martin Jones MBE

Chief Executive Officer Home Instead UK & International

A global leader in personal care

Home Instead is the world’s leading provider of home care for the elderly, enabling them to live safe, well and independently in their own homes. As CEO UK and International, Martin is responsible for the brand’s UK operations which are delivered through over 250 franchise offices. He is also responsible for Home Instead offices in 13 international markets.

When his father become seriously ill, Martin experienced first-hand the varied and sometimes poor levels of care in the UK. Martin wanted to join an environment where he could help to make a difference to the lives of other older people and their families and came to Home Instead in September 2011.

Home Instead’s mission, to expand the world’s capacity to care, remains forefront in Martin’s mind as he continues the development of the brand. Alongside his passion to support families to enable their loved ones to live independently at home, he is dedicated to providing job opportunities that are fulfilling and make best use of people’s skills and experience.

Martin was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2023 New Year Honours for services to older people. Attending his investiture at Windsor Castle, Martin was delighted to be awarded an MBE from HRH The Princess Royal.

As a trusted voice for the care sector, Martin regularly appears in the media. He has been a guest on a range of news programmes on national broadcast networks, such as BBC, ITV and Sky. Over the years, Martin has spoken on a range of topics, including funding for care and keeping older people safe and well in their own homes. He provides valuable insight for those faced with the challenges that can come with old age, and advocates for more people to come onboard and begin working in care.

Martin has also appeared in national newspapers, including The Times, Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and Daily Express. He has offered commentary on Home Instead’s latest

campaigns which shine the light on key issues regarding care, and has written opinion pieces to raise awareness.

Martin’s non-executive and Trustee roles include: Chair of the Homecare Association; Chair of The Care Workers’ Charity; member of the Age UK Board. He is also Chair of Home Instead Charities UK, part of Home Instead’s global charitable endeavours.

These roles have enabled Martin to build strong links to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), Skills for Care and the International Longevity Centre, to name but a few, to champion the cause of home care and the important role it plays within the health and social care eco system, ensuring home care is seen as the default care norm.

Martin’s unique position within the social care sector has seen him invited to meetings at 10 Downing Street and with the NHS, meeting with the Minister of State for Social Care and other key people across DHSC to discuss how the health and social care sectors can work better together.

These meeting have given him the platform to share the experiences of care professionals and those receiving care, and show what needs doing at government level to improve social care. He will continue to work with civil servants to help keep older people well and out of hospital.
