We are committed to ‘changing the face of ageing’ and improving the lives of elderly people. In the first instance we do this by the way we deliver our unique at-home care service but we are also keen to reach out to the broader community.
Through our local franchise offices we run a number of schemes and initiatives which take us to the heart of the communities we serve. Some see us sharing our extensive knowledge and best practice and others simply allow us to spread some happiness.
Family Dementia Workshops
Through our Family Dementia Workshops we share our expert knowledge with family members and the broader community. These workshops, which are an excellent way of connecting with the local people, are free to attend and arm people with effective techniques for managing the sometimes challenging behaviours associated with dementia.
The workshops are based on our specialist, City & Guilds accredited CAREGiver dementia training programme which has been put together by leading experts in ageing and dementia.
Be a Santa to a Senior
At Christmas time we like to spread a little happiness and our Christmas gift-giving scheme allows us to do just this!
Our franchise offices work with local groups, charities or hospitals to identify older people who might not receive a gift at Christmas time. They then work with local retailers to facilitate the purchase of gifts by members of the public.
The gifts are subsequently collected, wrapped and distributed by our local office teams in time for Christmas.
Senior Fraud Protection
In 2013, following an increase in the number of older people falling victim to mass marketing fraud involving postal scams, the internet and telephone (which makes up the largest proportion of fraud in the UK), we partnered with national scam awareness charity, Think Jessica, to launch our Senior Fraud Protection Programme.
The aim of the programme is to raise awareness of these scams and to provide as many people as possible with information on common scams targeting older people, as well as what to do if they have fallen victim to scammers. Our franchisees hold information days and evenings where they share information and advice with clients as well as family carers and members of the community about the latest scams and the best ways to stay safe and protect them against fraud. We are delighted to work closely with Think Jessica founder, Marilyn Baldwin OBE, to ensure that her charity’s message is heard across the country.
