A New Chapter After 15 Rewarding Years with Home Instead

Alison Yeatman (61) ran Home Instead Bath & West Wiltshire for 15 years alongside her husband Nick (64). Here, she shares the story of her Home Instead journey and what’s next for the couple.
When we bought our Home Instead franchise in 2011, we wanted to build something meaningful. My dad had been the inspiration behind our move into care, and with two young boys at home, the business had to work for our family as well as for the community we wanted to serve.
Almost 15 years later, we sold the business feeling incredibly proud of what we had built: a strong, quality-led service supporting around 100 clients, with 60 Care Professionals and a team we cared deeply about.
“We sold the business feeling incredibly proud of what we had built”.
From the beginning, we believed in the Home Instead model. We were independently owned, so the responsibility sat with us, but we were also part of a much wider organisation and a fantastic network of like-minded people. We followed the model, learned from other owners and focused on steady, sustainable growth. Quality was always at the heart of everything we did, and much of the business grew through word of mouth.
Selling was not an easy decision. Nick had always said he didn’t want to work past 65, and we had reached the point where we wanted to enjoy the rewards of what we had built while we were still well and able. We had been thinking about selling for some time, and when an early enquiry came through in summer 2025, it prompted us to take the next step.
The support from the Home Instead resale team was invaluable. Mike, Luke and Imi guided us through the process, helped prepare the prospectus and kept us informed at every stage. You do not sell your business every day, so having people who understood the model, the network and what mattered to us made a huge difference.
The hardest part was keeping everything confidential. We had been advised not to tell anyone until the right time, and that proved to be very wise. It allowed us to keep the business running as usual and protect the team throughout the process.
“The Support from the Home Instead resale team was invaluable”.
Once the business went to market, we quickly had two interested parties. For us, it was never just about the price. We wanted the right person for the business, the team and the clients. When we met Jeevan Johal, the new owner, we built a strong relationship straight away. We were honest throughout and wanted to make sure he was fully prepared to take the business forward.
Telling the team was one of the most emotional parts of the journey. We had support from National Office, including our Business Development Consultant, Sallyanne Collins, who came down to be with us when we shared the news. It was hard, because we cared so much about everyone, but the team were fantastic. They understood, supported us and told us not to be strangers.
After completion on 1 April 2026, we worked with Jeevan through a three-month handover. Nick supported payroll and invoicing, while I focused on the care side, reflecting how we had always split our roles. The transition was smooth, and the staff team remained in place, which was very important to us.
We have no regrets. Home Instead has been by far the most rewarding thing we have ever done. We are proud of what we achieved for our team, our clients and their families, and the wider community.
Selling the business has given us a new lease of life. We are now enjoying more time at home, seeing friends, exercising, travelling and planning trips in our VW campervan. Nick is looking forward to more golf, too.
“Home Instead has been by far the most rewarding thing we have ever done”.
We have passed this part of our lives on to Jeevan, and we are excited to see him build on what we created. The resale team were fabulous throughout, helping us find the right buyer, achieve the right outcome and move into our next chapter with confidence.
